President's Corner

by Cindy

Here’s to surviving another year and having great expectations for the coming year. NFN’s family grew and we welcome all of our newest members. I want to thank the rest of the officers and board of directors for all of their hard work in keeping this club running and planning for its future. I encourage everyone to think about becoming more involved in your club by serving on the board or providing tidbits for the newsletter (hint, hint), or attending more functions. Get the most out of your membership. Stay involved.

Christmas Party

Our annual Christmas Party was a rousing success with over 30 folks, including some we've not seen in quite some time, attending.

If you've never tried "Turducken" as a holiday, or anytime, feast, you've got to do so soon.  For the uninitiated, it's a boned chicken stuffed with dirty rice, put inside a boned duck stuffed with boudin sausage, put inside a boned turkey stuffed with dirty rice.  If it sounds good, we found ours at the Louisiana Deli on Atlantic Blvd and San Pablo.

ZoomZoom played the keyboard and we all sang caroles, had lots of food, good times, and holiday greetings and spirits.  The gift exchange went well, and quite a number of Toys for Tots were collected.

Thanks to Charles and Marilyn for hosting at their home.  A 92 degree pool in December is always welcome.

Have you bought your NFN Beach Towels yet?

There are still blue and pink available, and the Board recently decided to place another order.

They're still $22.

Please contact Cindy to purchase one (or more.)

Board News

The Board of Directors has recently made two new policy decisions regarding membership applications.  Both of these are designed to enhance the security of our members, and to ensure that everyone is treated equally and fairly in the application process.

1)  Starting immediately, all applications must be accompanied by a copy of all applicants' drivers license.  This is in addition to the $25 non-refundable application fee that was implemented after the January 2007 Bylaws revisions.

2)  Any member whose membership has lapsed for more than 3 months must apply as a new member, not a renewal.

We don't feel that these requirements will place a hardship on anyone that a) truly wants to be a member, and b) has nothing to hide.

Face it, we're nudists so it's hard to hide anything anyway!

Help Needed!!!

We are in need of a host for functions.  If you can host a party or if you have ideas for a theme, please contact any Board member.

Also, we always appreciate articles for the newsletter.  Tell us of your travels to other clubs or exotic locations.

Meet & Greet is a clothing event at a local establishment open to the public by invitation only.  It is a time to learn more about our organization and for us to learn more about you.  Would you like to attend?  Drop us a line.

Zoom-Zoom and friends went to Playalinda Beach a few months ago and ran into problems in the form of Sheriff's Deputies who've decided that Playalinda is no longer nudist friendly.  It seems that the Sheriff must be up for re-election, or something.  Anyway, whatever the reason, all nude access to the Beach is prohibited.  If you want to go to a nude beach, you must now go to Apollo Beach, which has limited parking.

Update:  We received a notice from AANR's Governmental Affairs Committee that, though the Feds won't object to nudity on the Federal park beaches at Playalinda, they're acceding to the local Sheriff's wishes and allowing County Sheriff's deputies to ticket and/or arrest nude beachgoers.  So, be careful if you go to Playalinda, or be smart and go to Apollo.  Perhaps if enough naturists boycott Brevard County businesses, the locals will realize the buying power they've enjoyed from our visitors.

Apollo
Beach: There is a motel near the beach that will give a 10% discount to NFN club members:  Aloha Motel Apartments, 6700 Turtle Mound Road, A1A South, New Smyrna Beach, FL  32169.  Telephone:  386-428-3386.
